Read the Story of a 5th & 6th Grade Teacher who uses Funtime Products:

I have known Kathleen Wiley for the past 8 years. Early in my teaching career, she shared with me these songs she had written. I was able to use these songs to enrich the curriculum I was teaching at the time. Since that time, she has introduced me to her latest music on CD's. I immediately listened to the songs and realized that the song "Dividing with Decimals" was right where my students were struggling at the time.

I brought the CD in and taught the song to my class (I teach a 5th/6th split class). After we sang the song several times and demonstrated on the board while singing, the students were able to finally grasp the concept. Another 6th grade teacher happened to be walking by and said, "May I borrow that song?" She listened to it, taught it to her students and bought a CD of her own. Both of us then proceeded to show two more 6th grade teachers and two more 5th grade teachers!! Several of them purchased their own CD's.
I've taught piano lessons for 23 years and I knew that music was a way to reach kids like no other medium, but it really struck home in a math review just recently. Our class was reviewing math for our end-of-level testing when we came upon a division problem. The student showing us how to do the problem used a line from Kathleen's song to explain it. ("...and then you pop it up into the quotient, like a whale popping out of the ocean...") Then I knew that these kids would NEVER forget how to divide with decimals. This is only one of many examples of using Kathleen's music in the classroom. I highly recommend her songs to any parent, grandparent, teacher etc. that is in a position to impact children. Now I want Kathleen to write songs about the Revolutionary War time period.
